Terms of Service
Last updated: January 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Aquila ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Acceptable Use Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Aquila is an academic writing tool that helps users format documents according to APA style guidelines. The Service converts plain-text input into formatted PDF documents using LaTeX compilation.
3. Account Standing & Subscription Access
Access to Aquila, including any paid subscription features, is granted only while your account remains in good standing. "Good standing" means compliance with these Terms of Service and the Acceptable Use Policy below.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service—including paid subscriptions—immediately and without refund if you violate these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy. Payment for a subscription does not guarantee continued access if your account is not in good standing.
4. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree NOT to use Aquila to create, store, transmit, or process any content that:
4.1 Hate Speech & Discrimination

- Encourages or incites violence against any person or group
4.3 Extremism & Dangerous Content

4.4 Illegal Content

- Deliberately overloads, disrupts, or interferes with the Service or its infrastructure
- Attempts to access accounts, data, or systems without authorization

4.6 Safeguard Circumvention

5. Enforcement & Consequences
Violations of the Acceptable Use Policy may result in:
- Warning: For minor or first-time violations
- Temporary Suspension: Restricted access for a specified period
- Permanent Termination: Complete and irreversible removal of access
- Legal Action: Referral to law enforcement for illegal activity
We determine the appropriate response at our sole discretion based on the severity and nature of the violation. Termination of access due to policy violations does not entitle you to any refund of subscription fees.
6. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Use the Service only for lawful purposes in compliance with this Agreement
- Not submit content that infringes on intellectual property rights
- Not attempt to interfere with or disrupt the Service
- Take responsibility for all content you create using the Service
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
7. Academic Integrity
Aquila is a formatting tool, not a content generation tool. You are solely responsible for the academic content of your documents. The Service does not modify your text content—it only applies formatting. Users must comply with their institution's academic integrity policies.
8. Intellectual Property
You retain all rights to the content you create using Aquila. We do not claim ownership of your documents. The Aquila software, branding, and related materials are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:
- The Service will meet your specific requirements
- The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
- Output documents will perfectly match all APA guidelines in all cases
Important: Aquila is a formatting aid, not a substitute for understanding APA style guidelines. Always review your final documents before submission.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to academic penalties, rejected submissions, or lost data.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the Service at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or the Service. This right exists regardless of any payment made for subscription services.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
13. Contact
If you have questions about these Terms or wish to report a violation, please contact us through our support page.
